Maryland Electric Company

Electrical Contractors Since 1925

Our History

Founded in 1925, Maryland Electric Company was started on Maryland Street in Grosse
Pointe, Michigan as a small residential contractor. Growing slowly through the years,
Maryland Electric gained a reputation for excellent service and quality workmanship.

In 1976 the company was purchased by Jerry and Ellen Dancey and Robert Weir, continuing
to provide the quality residential services the company had been doing for the first 51 years.
At the same time, building up a strong commercial customer base throughout Southeastern
Michigan.

Moving from St. Clair Shores, Michigan to our current headquarters in Clinton Township,
Michigan in 1994, Maryland Electric continued to grow as a company in both size and
reputation. As markets began to change in the early 2000's, so did Maryland Electric. In
2003, a new Mid Michigan branch was opened in Midland to better serve its northern
Michigan customers. In addition to working in Michigan, Maryland Electric has followed our
clients from the East Coast down to Florida, all the Midwest states surrounding Michigan and
as far away as Arkansas.

We're proud that Maryland Electric Company's areas of expertise now include commercial,
retail, industrial, institutional, and utility. We have extensive experience in new construction
and renovations, plant shut - downs, electrical cut-overs and procedures, scheduled
maintenance, emergency repairs, and modifications as well as design/build engineering.
