Ellen J. Dancey - President, Owner In 1966 Ellen received a bachelors degree from Marygrove College in Detroit, MI. Upon graduation she held a position in Human Resources for Henry Ford Hospital. In 1976, in conjunction with Bob and Jerry, acquired Maryland Electric Company. Ellen holds the tile of President and Chief Financial Officer. From 1976 – 2001 Ellen held the certification of Women Business Owned Enterprise by the Majority Business Initiative, Inc. of the City of Detroit. Her dedication and commitment over the years has been a key factor in the success of Maryland Electric.
Gerald Dancey - Vice President, Owner Jerry began his career in the Electric Industry in 1967 as an IBEW Local 58 apprentice electrician. From 1972 –1976 he held positions as both Journeyman and Foreman electrician. Then in 1976 he received his Master Electricians License and transitioned into the contracting field as part of the management team which purchased Maryland Electric Company. As Vice President and Owner he has been instrumental to the success of Maryland Electric. Jerry has also held key positions within the contracting industry. He was the Representative for the master electricians on the Michigan State Electrical Board from 1984 – 1995, and has held numerous positions within the Southeastern Michigan Chapter of NECA. As part of the board of directors of NECA he held the position of President from 2005 – 2008, and currently holds the title of Governor. He is also the contractor representative on the NECA Labor Management Committee and NECA/IBEW apprenticeship committee.
Robert (Bob) Weir - Secretary/Treasurer, Owner In 1968 Bob began his career in the Electrical Industry as and IBEW Local 58 apprentice electrician. From 1972 – 1976 he held positions as both Journeyman and Foreman eletrician. In 1976 as part of the management team acquired Maryland Electric Company. Thru the years Bob has played a critical role in the development and growth of Maryland Electric.
David Dancey - Vice President of Operations, Owner David grew up in the electrical business working at the family company before receiving a degree from Michigan Technological University in Power Systems and Machinery in 1991. After graduation he worked as a Power Systems and Controls Engineer for General Electric Company. In 1992 David Joined Maryland Electric Company as a project manager and estimator. By 1997 he earned the role of Vice President of Operations and in 1999 became an owner of the company. He recently was given the responsibility of overseeing the expansion of Maryland Electric Company in Nashville Tennessee. David holds professional certifications by BICSI and Lonmark International for specialties in telecommunications and Control systems, and recently received his masters license from the State of Tennessee. David is a member of NECA for both the Michigan and East Tennessee chapters.
Steve Wellein - Superintendent, Owner Steve attended Lawrence Institute of Technology in the Electrical vocational/engineering program from 1974 - 1977. Upon graduation he entered the IBEW Local 58 apprenticeship program. In 1981 he came to work for Maryland Electric as an apprentice electrician and has been there ever since. In 1997 Steve's commitment earned him the roll as Vice President of Field Operations and in 1999 he became an owner of the company. Steve is a member of the Southeast Michigan Chapter of NECA and of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors - IAEI.
